What They See Is What They Get!

We are living in a unique age. We are called to spread the gospel to new generation. Sadly some are pounding the pulpit and railing against what they believe is a generation that is hopeless. I will admit that ministry to this post-modern generation can be frustrating and at the very least challenging, but I do not believe it is hopeless. I would like to go on record and say "This generation can be reached". I know, the "en-vogue" thing for a 41 year old preacher at this point in the post is to attack organized religion and point out all the warts and blemishes of particular church movements and their traditional services. Before you get worried that I am rushing to buy a pottery wheel and candles for my acoustic alchemy worship set, relax, I am not going there! lol... But I do wonder if some of what is being preached is being drowned out by what this generation sees in the lives of Apostolics?

In too many cases what is being said is not being matched by what is being displayed. Remember this is a "visual" generation. This description is not just a statement about video screens and strobe lights added for effect in some kind of optical worship experience. This generation "sees" first, rather than listening. This is one important reason that we must "display" the truth that we preach. People have grown tired of mere words. "Our use of the Bible is analogous to our use of language. We indwell it rather than looking at it from the outside. But for this to happen it is clear that this 'indwelling' must mean being part of the community whose life is shaped by the story which the Bible tells"(Lesslie Newbigin). In other words, what we preach has to be made visible!  WHAT THEY 'SEE' IS WHAT THEY 'GET'!

The Christ message must be preached and "lived out"...clearly! Graham Johnston in his book "Preaching To a Post-Modern World" states, "It is essential that the preacher not fall into the trap of being wishy-washy with a watered down message. People who have tired of uncertainty will be seeking straight answers". This generation is swift to recognize whether or not the message matches the life. They are not afraid of our doctrine...if our lives match what we say we believe. I am proposing that the apostolic church is poised to be the recipient of this generation's gaze. Let us recognize the need to "shew forth" this glorious gospel. This generation needs to see a church on fire, filled with the Holy Spirit and excited about what has brought us out of darkness. There is no need to be intimidated about our faith, our doctrine, our separation, our worship or our service to the Father. Square your shoulders, hold your head up, step out and demonstrate God's provision and love. It is the only way that this generation will receive it.

WHAT THEY 'SEE' IS WHAT THEY 'GET'!

Book of Isaiah - My Personal Devotion

Prophet Isaiah - www.mylesyoung.comIn my personal devotion and Bible study I am studying the book of Isaiah. The deeper I have gotten into this book the more sobering it becomes. The first 3 chapters provide the sad account of Jerusalem's moral and spiritual collapse. I guess what is so sobering is to see so many similar trends taking place all around us. The new issues are really not new at all but God's people have struggled with these things since the days of the Isaiah. I know this is not a fun filled post this morning but my heart is stirred. As I drove through the streets of a city with no apostolic church and prayed for the Lord of the Harvest to anoint us to accomplish His will, I couldn't help but think how much of the harvest is being missed because the laborers can't figure out who they are.
Instead of work be accomplished in the vineyard...there is fighting at the cottage about how the vineyard should kept.
Maybe tomorrow my latte will stir me to joy and excitement, but today this Pastor's heart is heavy with the reality of where so many are headed.

May God help us all!

Sarah, You Are Beautiful! - Nathaniel Urshan III

Beauty in Truth - www.mylesyoung.comHere I am sitting in a hotel room in Calgary so I'm checking email and responding when I decided to google "apostolic preaching". My search led me to Nathaniel Urshan III preaching at NO LIMITS earlier this year. As I started listening, my hotel was bathed in the sweet presence of God. My heart was pounding in my chest as Pastor Urshan told of Old Testament Sarah and her beauty. He skillfully made the connection to this apostolic message that has been given to us and I was overcome with thankfulness for such a clear message from my dear friend.

In this day of relevancy and emerging trends, the sound of a truly apostolic message is so refreshing. Pastor Urshan thank you for painting the picture so beautifully. Truth is gorgeous. What a timeless, transcendent message from a great man. If you were not there then you owe to yourself to listen to this message.

Sending out blessing to the Nathaniel Urshan family in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Bible study - www.mylesyoung.comAn Apostolic Bible study

We just got back to the room and grabbed some of the universe's best "carne asada" tacos. What a way to end a very busy day. Let me re-cap for you what took place today.
We began by meeting a couple and a teen-ager to teach them about baptism. We then counseled with a man who said he was struggling with his christian faith. We discovered that he had never been baptized nor had he received the Holy Ghost, so we taught him a Bible study on baptism. I looked across the table at him and said "You can receive it right now". He got up and raised his hands and started weeping. Dr. Baumeister laid his hands on him and in a few moments he was speaking in other tongues.
We then met with 3 pastors, and discussed the future for providing training for them. This meeting went well. One of those Pastors, we believe will play a significant role in this area for winning souls to Christ.
We then loaded up in pick-up trucks and headed out to find a place to baptize this couple and the man who received the Holy Ghost. Out side of town in a farming community we found a irrigation canal and baptized these folks in Jesus Name. With cars, truck, and buses (even a horse) moving by we had a little church by the canal. The young lady from the Bible study recieved the Holy Ghost in the canal as she came up out of the water. It was off the hook.... it will forever be one of my cherished memories.

We raced back to the hotel, changed clothes and went to church. We saw God fill 10 more people with the Holy Ghost tonight.

I wish all of you that are reading this could have been here today to see the increase of God's government in the present. Pray for Delicias, Mexico. There is a real need here for leadership because there is a revival beginning here that could be huge.

I want to give a big shout out to Hermano Jorge Vasquez, whose team sponsored this revival. "Te Amo, Jorge, muchas gracias"

MEXICO UPDATE-THURSDAY after church

Pastor C. Myles Young, Bro Santo, & Dr. Paul Baumeister - www.mylesyoung.com Pastor C. Myles Young, Bro Santo, & Dr. Paul Baumeister

Bro Santo (Holy) receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance - www.mylesyoung.com Bro Santo receiving the Holy Ghost !

We just got out of church on Thursday night. It was a good service. We had several receive the Holy Ghost tonight. Pray for the service tomorrow night following the baptism class we are teaching tomorrow afternoon.

This afternoon we went to eat lunch at the Pastor's home and when we arrived we met a man named "Santo"(Holy in english). He has been attending the church but has never received the Holy Ghost. We found out that he would not be able to be at church tonight because he had to work. He was very disappointed because he thought he might receive the Holy Ghost at the conference. I told him that God could fill him with His Spirit right now, before he had to leave for work. Dr. Baumeister then asked him if he believed what I told him. He responded "Si, Yo creo"(I believe). We finished eating and stood up and the man began to cry....we laid our hands upon him and suddenly he began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance. Before today he had been given the name "Holy/Santo" but today God made him "Holy/Santo" by moving into his heart.

We still have one more day and night in this revival so please approach the throne of God on our behalf.

"Mi Dios puede hacer todo"!

MEXICO UPDATE-WEDNESDAY

We have arrived in Delicias. We got in late last night. We landed in Chihuahua and then we crossed the lonely desert in the darkest of night (sounds like a novel). It was quite an experience. We were out in the middle of nowhere when we came upon a truck that was parked blocking the road and there were several men  standing behind it.   Paul and I looked at each other and said "Get ready"... talk about an adrenalin rush. As it turned out they were just broke down and pushed their truck out of the way and we made it in to town.

We found a hole-in-the-wall taco shop....Oh my word! Unbelievable tacos. (Don't you wish you were here?)

Since we have arrived, we have learned that our coming here is more important than we realized. Some of the pastors that we are meeting with have not yet been baptized in Jesus name. We are going to be teaching them. These pastors are coming believing that God is going to give them a new revelation. Pray fervently for us. This could be the key that we are searching for.

The E Group Gathering

The E Group - C Myles Young Blog Hey everybody, I just wanted to let all of you know about a very exciting meeting coming in October. It is going to be a great time for young ministers and those that feel called to preach. It is called "The E Group". The "E" comes from the idea of Empowering, Equipping and Encouraging young men to apostolic ministry. The dates are October 3-4. The location is Hope Center in Redlands, CA. Bro B J Wilmoth and myself are the sponsoring pastors. Bro Jason Calhoun will also be an integral part of this new venture. This meeting has been birthed out of a burden for young men to respond to the call of God. Within the UPCI, ALJC, WPF, ACI and even independent circles there needs to be a fresh crop of young men who will rise up and preach the word with boldness and clarity. This meeting is our attempt at having an influence for the future of the Apostolic Movement. We believe in young men. I hope many of you will make plans to be there. If you know someone who you are acquainted with that is in the developmental stage of ministry or is already active in ministry as a young man, then this will be a great opportunity to network and be Empowered, Equipped and Encouraged. By the way, if you are still under you Pastor, then please make sure and clear your participation with him. It is going to be a great time. I look forward to seeing you there.

From The Grand to the Grind

The Grind - Pastor Myles Young BlogWell, my traveling days are over for a while. No Limits, Israel, France, Canada, Branson...all these foreign countries have me worn out. It is good to be home. Back to normal life. Well, as normal as my life ever is. We sometimes say "Back to the grind" with a negative bent, but I am not feeling any negativity right now. It is good to be back doing the daily work that makes the kingdom of God expand. The conferences, the crusades, the world-changing events only exist because of "daily faithfulness". I believe that the hope of the world is the "local church". The daily stuff is not near as fun as all of the high profile things that we want to be a part of. Peter was in one of those "cool" mountain-top events and wanted to stay and build 3 temples to dwell in, but Jesus said "No....lets head back down to where real life is...." This is where real ministry takes place, in the everyday existence of faithful obedience.
If you are frustrated because nothing glorious or invigorating is happening to you, just keep being faithful and the "grand things" have a way of showing up.

NO LIMITS

No Limits 08 - C Myles Young BlogWell, No Limits has come and gone. It was a spectacular time of God's glory and presence. I encourage you if you were unable to attend go to our web-site and watch the archives. God spoke to us in so many ways. "Innovate" was awesome and many of those that registered stayed over for No Limits. It was our biggest year ever. Each night we set attendance records. We are really excited about the future. To those of you that came we hope that you were as blessed to be here as we were blessed that you came.

Thank God for 90 Native Missionaries being sponsored on Thursday night in Uganda, Liberia, Mexico, El Salvador... THE FUTURE IS HERE.

Well, I don't have much time to rest because I leave tonight for Israel. I am so pumped (I have never been). I am going to film GOD QUEST - ISRAEL (should be fun). I don't know if I will have access to a computer while I am gone, if so I will post. If not I will be in touch when I return.

Pray someone through to the Holy Ghost while I am gone. God bless.

Cry of Lost Humanity

The Cry of Lost Humanity - The Lost Lamb - Pastor Myles YoungCan you hear the cry of a lost and dying world? Grab your wrist and feel your pulse...with every beat of your heart another soul dies and enters eternity, never hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. My soul is heavy this morning as a read the news and check my email. Everyone is busy in the kingdom but how many have we really saved from hell.
The scripture teaches that we are to bear fruit and that we are blessed to be a blessing but how many people that sit on our pews every week have ever one a soul to Christ? We get so caught up in the pull of the American culture and work our fingers to the bone to have nice cars, houses, toys & vacations.
Please don't misunderstand me, I love the very same things and do my best to have a good life, but I feel the Holy Ghost pressing me this morning to remember the "cause". We are to preach this message of truth to the lost and convert the sinner. Anything short of this is a case of missed placed priorities. As you go about your day and week look for opportunities to share Jesus with the world.
I challenge you to win one soul to Christ this year.

Liberia Revival

Liberia Pastor Myles YoungBro BJ Wilmoth just returned today from Liberia. I spoke with him briefly. He was pumped up! 152 people received the Holy Ghost at the conference he preached. Some incredible things took place. Lord willing he is going to check in and give us a "KINGDOM" report after he gets over his jet-lag. Pray for the Stewarts as they continue to lead the revival in Liberia.

Samoa needs a Savior

The beautiful islands of SamoaI was thrilled to be invited to go preach a crusade in Samoa. What an incredible place. The only thing more beautiful than the island was the Samoans themselves. They treated me with love and acceptance and received the word of God gladly. Dr. Baumeister and I had the time of our lives. It was a great crusade and many were filled with the Holy Ghost. I look forward to going back soon. Bro & Sis Blunt have invited me back sometime so I would love for some of you to go with us for another crusade. I am working trying to get on the radio in Samoa (God may be working something out) so keep Samoa in your prayers.
I filmed a "God Quest 2" video while we were there. You will get to see the country as well as some the results of revival breaking out. Just click on The Rock Church link and you can watch the clip. There is a great need in Samoa for property and a building. Maybe God will speak to someone that views the web-site.

My Sunday Worship

Worship at The Rock Church - Sacramento, CA Well Sunday has come and gone. The choir robes are back in the closet, the sound and lights are turned off, the church is dark and silent and another week has begun. So what did you glean from your worship experience? Did you just go through the routine of church as usual? Did you encounter God today? Did the Spirit give you direction? Did you recognize the call of the Spirit? Or was it just another Sunday where you went to church, sang a few songs, heard a sermon, then went and ate with friends? How many of us really touched heaven on Sunday? What if God was providing something we needed to carry us through the week? How sad would it be to have made all the efforts to go to church but never receive what God had for us. This week make it a priority, next Sunday I am going to touch God and God is going to touch me, then watch how much better your week will be.

A Flying Leap

Flying Leap Amish Airlines - The Rock ChurchLately I have received advice from several people concerning my ministry. I have been told that I am trying to be like the Amish and that I am throwing my ministry off the cliff. I am quite sure that their advice was offered in sincere love and concern so I thought this picture was fitting for the occasion. Hope this makes you smile a little. Lets not take ourselves so serious.

Pastor B J Wilmoth goes to Liberia

LiberiaHey everybody my man B J Wilmoth is in Liberia. He is preaching a convention and doing some very exciting investigative work on a whole new open door of ministry in Africa. He is going to be meeting with a key leader of a large church that recently visited TRC. Send some prayer coverage up for him and his crusade team as they minister in Africa. I believe that Africa is ripe for the biggest apostolic revival in the history of the world. This is only the beginning. Bro Wilmoth is going to be checking in with me while he is there and I will be posting the results of what God is up to there in Liberia.
